Hand Selected PAL kids had the experience of traveling to Charlotte, NC to attend the annual youth leadership and mentor summit. National PAL and Hoodies House were able to bring PAL chapters from across the nation to gather for an inspiring and motivating week full of impactful guest speakers, panelists, and exhibitors in addition to attending a career fair and going on tour of the University of North Carolina. So many invaluable gems were dropped along the way!
Among the keynote speakers were individuals such as Joan Higginbotham, who was the third African American female astronaut, artist and comic creator Tony Weaver Jr who is a creative visionary who challenges stereotypes and inspires the youth, and Nathan Harmon, who is a profound speaker who talked about the life experiences that changed him forever for the better. In total, they learned about drug addiction prediction, mental health talk, finding purpose in passion, and the power of influence.
