HOLLYWOOD (March 20, 2022) – Early Sunday morning our Hollywood PAL Run Team gathered together in the cold as they waited for the LA Marathon to officially start. Each youth participant, stretching muscles and preparing themselves mentally to keep an even pace, and just keep going. HPAL’s runners, ages 12-18 put to the test, their reserves, their strength and their months of training to take on the marathon challenge to meet a personal goal and running for Hollywood PAL and Students Run LA.
Hollywood PAL partners with Students Run LA whose mission is to challenge at-risk secondary students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience: The training for and completion of the Los Angeles Marathon.
We are pleased to share that the entire team completed the LA Marathon. We are incredibly proud of our kids and officers for committing to 8 months of training and building up enough strength and endurance to meet their final goal of running 26.2 miles. While final times varied, everyone finished in less than eight hours.
