HOLLYWOOD (March 20, 2023) –

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, several members of Hollywood PAL’s run program participated in the 37th annual LA Marathon.  Parents, volunteers and friends of Hollywood PAL joined in and provided encouragement and support to the LA Marathon runners.

The LA Marathon was a perfect example of illustrating Hollywood PAL’s ongoing ability to connect kids, cops, and community in a meaningful and impactful way.  Twenty Hollywood PAL youth and three officer/volunteer coaches participated in the marathon as part of Students Run LA (SRLA). A nonprofit partner that provides youth access to training shoes and entry fees allowing us to help these kids build up the physical strength, endurance and mental dedication to complete the marathon.

Officer Lee exemplified the adage of “no one left behind” as he ran alongside one of the Hollywood PAL youth to provide one-on-one support and encouragement to the young runner as he ran from Mile 11 to across the finish line.

Parents of Hollywood PAL youth also showed their support as they provided food, water, and words of encouragement to runners as they dashed through the 11-mile marker in front of the Hollywood PAL Martial Arts Studio. Hollywood PAL’s engagement in the LA Marathon was yet another perfect example of how positive community bonds are strengthened between kids, cops, and community.
