By being a part of the Police Activities League (PAL), you are helping yourself, your family and your community. For those reasons, a specially coordinated national preview of the movie, McFARLAND USA, gave pal kids the opportunity to see an inspirational film about the true story of a coach and his cross country team. On Saturday, February 7th, 2015, pals gathered in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Houston, Fresno, San Francisco and Los Angeles, getting the VIP treatment at their local Regal Theatre as well as featured on their local ABC news.

In Los Angeles, El Capitan hosted over 700 pals and sals (Sherriff’s Activities League). Kids came from Hollywood, Hollenbeck, Pasadena, Devonshire, Newton, Palmdale, Century, Compton, Lakewood, and Norwalk. Social media was all a buzz as kids responded to the themes of the movie: commitment to one’s community, the power of relationships, overcoming the odds… We all strongly recommend going to see the film when it opens February 20th!

On Saturday, January 31st, 50 Pals and Cadets loaded onto a bus and headed to the Coliseum to run the AltaMed 5K which was then followed by an all-day health expo featuring a Youth Mindfulness Session led by former NFL player and yogi, Keith Mitchell. The kids had a wonderful time exploring the yoga tents, LA Galaxy obstacle course, and other interactive booths. It was an honor to be included in the event.

On Sunday, December 7th, Paramount Studios hosted Hollywood PAL’s Annual Holiday Party!  Over 250 people attended the joyous event, taking pictures with Santa, enjoying home cooked food and Paramount Hot Chocolate, taking home gifts and goodies and watching the newly released Book of Life in Paramount’s incredible theater. It was a memorable event for us all.  Check out photos!

In addition to our wonderful host Paramount Studios, we’d like to thank William Kidston for being our Photographer, Dennis Forel for entertaining us with his magic and balloons, Roosevelt Hotel and KIND Snacks for donating food, and Donelle Dadigan, Thor Lee, and the tenants of 6464 and 6565 Sunset for donating Toys to our PALs!

On November 22, USC invited Hollywood PAL to bring a bus load of families to USC for lunch and a basketball game!  Not only did our kids have a blast eating a delicious feast and watching the USC girls team dominate the basketball court, but they went home with toys and goodies as well. Thank you for giving back to the Los Angeles community and inspiring our kids by bringing them to your campus.
